Fall asleep faster with this COOL technique

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Do you have trouble falling BACK asleep when you wake up in the middle of the night? Is your mind always racing when you try to sleep and you simply can’t quiet it down no matter what you do? Well, you aren’t alone. This is a very common problem that many people experience for various reasons, but often as a result of busy lives, overstimulation and trying to cope with the ongoing stress and anxiety of work, social media, relationships, health and the state of the world.

As you probably know, getting high quality sleep is extremely important for your overall health and wellbeing. Falling asleep faster and sleeping more soundly will provide you with the high quality sleep that you need to feel better and power your busy life. Fortunately, there are techniques that you can use to help you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly.

One simple, yet powerful technique that you can learn and use immediately to help you sleep better uses visualization to imagine snow falling around you. It is simple because visualization is something that you can do right now with very little instruction and/or practice, even if you’ve never used visualization before. It is powerful because falling snow is peaceful, cool and calming. The effectiveness of this technique lies in the fact that falling snow neutralizes sound around you, purifies everything by turning it white and softens the edges of anything harsh. These effects will leave you feeling cool, calm and relaxed - ready to fall asleep.

To use this technique, simply close your eyes and imagine that you are bundled up nice and warm, quietly lying down outside while snow falls softly around you. This accomplishes several things:

  1. It allows you to quiet your mind by focusing on something other than troubling thoughts (you’re now focused on gently falling snowflakes instead of whatever else was spinning around up there).

  2. You are psychologically blocking out any current, real sound around you, as well as any cognitive “noise” by focusing on a quiet phenomenon.

  3. You are mentally placing yourself in a cool environment. The body falls asleep best when it is cool. In fact, when we fall asleep our body temperature drops by several degrees which is why it’s generally more comfortable to be covered by soft, warm blankets.

So without going into further detail, give this technique a try next time you are having trouble sleeping and I guarantee that you will fall asleep faster and sleep more peacefully. Come back and let me know how it works!
